All the members of SP²E VSTU Student Chapter are the representatives of scientific school on Optoelectronic Information-Energy Technologies functioning on the base of V³nnyts³a State Technical University, Institute of Automatics, Electronics and Computer Control Systems, Functional Electronics and Laser Engineering Department, Chair of Laser and Optoelectronic Engineering.

The founder of scientific school is Honoured Scientist of Ukraine, Academician of Academy of Engineering Science of Ukraine, Doctor of Science (Eng.), Professor Volodymyr P. Kozhemyako.

In 2001 Volodymyr P. Kozhemyako was awarded with the State Prize for the promotions of the achievements of Ukrainian Science and Technology in Europe; and become a winner in the nomination "Scientist of the Year".

The Chair of Laser and Optoelectronic Engineering trains Bachelors, Engineers and Masters on specialties "Laser and optoelectronic engineering".

Recently by the results of the research with support and creative cooperation with the Ukrainian Chapter of SP²E the following conferences were held:

  • Second International Scientific and Research Conference on Optoelectronic Information Technologies
    "Photonics-ODS 2002" held at VSTU, April 23-25, 2000.
    Members of SPIE VSTU Student Chapter Victoria O. Chekotun, Viktor V. Homyuk, Angelika I. Luchenko, Marya V. Matokhnuk, Olga B. Repina, Yevgen O. Terentiev, Sergiy A. Vasyletskyy, Anna S. Veremienko, Andriy A. Yarovyy presented the reports.
    Selected materials on the results of the "Photonics-ODS 2002" Conference have been presented to Ukrainian SPIE Chapter for further publication in "Proceedings of SPIE".
  • International Scientific Journal "Optoelectronic Information-Power Technologies" founded by VSTU and registered by State Committee of Information Policy of Ukraine. One of co-founders of the Journal is Ukrainian SPIE Chapter. The first issue of the journal was published. The second and third issues are prepared for publication.
  • The cooperation with a number of industrial enterprises of V³nnyts³a region and Ukraine as well as
    V.M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine), International Research and Training Centre of Information Technologies and Systems National Academy of Science of Ukraine Cybernetica Centre (Kyiv, Ukraine), Optical Society of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine), Maria Curie-Sklodovska University (Lublin, Poland) has been established.
    During the official ceremony of opening of the conference the member of SP²E VSTU Student Chapter Board of Advisors Sergey V. Pavlov and Professor of the Georgian Technical University Otar G. Natroshvili were awarded with a memorial jubilee medal of "100 years of S.I. Vavilov" on behalf on Optical Society of Ukraine and the D.S. Rozhdestvensky Optical Society (Russia).

SP²E VSTU Student Chapter realizes its activity with direct support and constructive assistance of leading experts of scientific school of Laser and Optoelectronic Engineering Chair of VSTU and Ukrainian SP²E Chapter.

THE ANNUAL ACTIVITY PERIOD ACTIVITY OF SP²E VSTU STUDENT CHAPTER COMPRISES:

  •  SP²E VSTU Student Chapter Web-site has been created and launched: http://www.vstu.vinnica.ua/chapter/chapter.htm
  • SP²E VSTU Student Chapter official e-mail has been created: spie@lili.vstu.vinnica.ua
  • The International Scientific and Research Conference of the students, post-graduate students and young scientists "Optoelectronic Information-Energy Technologies - 2001 (OEIET-2001)", was held April 24-26, 2001 in cooperation with Uzhgorod National University (Ukraine), National University "Lvivska Politechnica" (Ukraine), Lublin Technical University (Poland), Georgian Technical University (Georgia), University "Stefan Ñel Mare" (Romania). It was the first International Scientific and Research Conference of the students, post-graduate students and young scientists held in Ukraine that was organized and held by the efforts of SP²E Student Chapter of V³nnyts³a State Technical University and with support of the Ukrainian SP²E Chapter. All the members of SP²E VSTU Student Chapter participated in the Conference. They presented the reports and headed Sections.
  • Selected materials on the results of the "OEIET-2001" Conference have been presented to Ukrainian SPIE Chapter for further publication in "Proceedings of SPIE/Ukraine".
  • The relations with other SPIE Student Chapters of Ukraine have been established, the cooperation is carried out.
  • The Second International Young Scientist Conference "Scientific Problems of Optics and High Technology Material Science (SPO-2001)" was held on the base of National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv, Students Chapters of SPIE (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, V³nnyts³a State Technical University, Kyiv National Technical University KPI, Chernivtsy State University) were co-sponsors of the given Conference.
  • SPIE scientific materials (namely editions of "OE Magazine", "Proceedings of SPIE" etc.) have been used while teaching a number of optoelectronic disciplines as well as studying and mastering English.
  • Library funds of V³nnyts³a State Technical University are constantly supplied with SPIE scientific publications.
  • SP²E VSTU Student Chapter has created its own library containing SPIE scientific publications.
  • Efforts are made to increase SPIE rating (including the rating of SP²E VSTU Student Chapter):
    - Spreading of information dealing with SPIE activity by reading lectures to the students of junior courses and college students as well as presenting the reports at scientific Sessions in Vinnytsia Region.
    - Two articles have been published:
    - Newsletter "Impulse" (VSTU) ¹10(599), November 2001;
    - Regional newspaper "Vinnytski Vidomosti" ("Vinnytsia News") ¹46(371).
  • Second Scientific and Research Conference of the students, post-graduate students and young scientists "Optoelectronic Information-Energy Technologies - 2002 (OEIET-2002)", held at VSTU, April 23-25, 2002.
    Members of SP²E VSTU Student Chapter presented the reports at the conference and assisted in organization of the conference (as chairmen of the sessions). During the official ceremony of opening of the conference the President of SP²E VSTU Student Chapter Andriy A. Yarovyy was awarded with Diploma (Honors) of Optical Society of Ukraine for outstanding contribution in Optical Engineering.
  • of the SP²E VSTU Student Chapter participated in Scientific Workshops held in 2002 on the base of International Research and Training Centre of Information Technologies and Systems National Academy of Science of Ukraine Cybernetica Centre (Kyiv, Ukraine).
  • SP²E VSTU Student Chapter under the auspice of VSTU participated in International Exhibition "Photonics Technology into the 21st Century" held by Ukrainian SP²E Chapter, April 14-17, 2002 in Kyiv, Ukraine.
  • President of SP²E VSTU Student Chapter Andriy A. Yarovyy was awarded with SPIE Travel Grant to participate in a Student Chapter Program at Annual Meeting, July 7-12, 2002 in Seattle, Washington, USA. The materials needed for taking part in SPIE International Symposium "Optical Science and Technology" are submitted: Volodymyr P. Kozhemyako, Leonid I. Timchenko, Yuri F. Kutaev, Andriy A. Yarovyy,
    Alexander A. Gertsiy, Nafez O. Shweiki, Anatoliy T. Terenchuk "Method for Training of a Parallel-Hierarchical Network, Based on Population Coding for Processing of Extended Laser Paths Images".
  • During the year the meetings of SP²E VSTU Student Chapter were held to discuss the results of the activity and elaborate program and directions of further Chapter's action.
  • Enrolment new SP²E VSTU Student Chapter members among students of V³nnyts³a State Technical University and Vinnytsia Pirogov State Medical University (Appendix 1).
  • SP²E VSTU Student Chapter members who graduated the VSTU Post-Graduate Courses are recommended for the enrollment in Ukrainian SP²E Chapter (Appendix 1).

SP²E VSTU STUDENT CHAPTER PROGRAM FOR THE NEXT YEAR:

  • Support the intensive exchange of information and practical experience with the members of SP²E Student chapters of other states by realization of conferences and workshops visiting of scientific establishments and realization of the joint scientific projects, seminars and conferences
  • Organization and holding in October, of 2002 The Third International Young Scientist Conference "Scientific Problems of Optics and High Technology Material Science (SPO-2002)" on the base of National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv
  • Development of international relations and signing of international agreements on cooperation with students scientific organizations of other states
  • Continue to involve the best scientific materials of the representatives of students and other SP²E chapters to publication in the International Scientific Journal "Optoelectronic Information-Power Technologies"
  • Participate and submit scientific materials to leading scientific SPIE editions
  • Continue to apply SPIE materials for further usage in teaching of optoelectronic disciplines as well as studying and mastering English
  • Support the activity aimed at increase of rating of SP²E Student chapter through out realization of information-educational activity
  • Creation and regular updating of the database containing the information about the members of SP²E VSTU Student chapter
  • Creation and regular updating of the specialized information database on scientific materials of the international conferences already held and other scientific conferences, which participants were and will be the members of SP²E VSTU Student chapter
  • Updating and actualization SP²E VSTU Student Chapter Web-site and launch of doubling Web-sites
    Updating of V³nnyts³a State Technical University and SP²E VSTU Student Chapter Library funds with new scientific SPIE publications
  • Enrolment of the talented and gifted students of other departments and specialties of V³nnyts³a Universities, representatives of other scientific schools to SP²E VSTU Student chapter.
