ANNUAL REPORT (APRIL 2001 - MAY 2002)

1. We have elected new officers at our SPIE meeting on 1st of
June, 2002.
The list of item:

President: Burkovets D. was elected.
Vice-President: Ushenko Yu. was elected.
Secretary. Nestina E.: was elected.
Treasurer. Victorovska Y.: was elected.

2. Organizational Activities:
- we have maintained and updated information on the Student
Chapter information board and our intranet web-site.
- we have organized an interactive work-place for Student Chapter
members, where they can use Internet, e-mail.
- we have arranged weekly workshops with lectures by professors
from our university.
- we have conducted monthly seminars, where Chapter members
reported their scientific research results.
- we have organized 1st Optical Competition for students of our
department.
- we have arranged an annual student conference, where students
have presented their research papers.
- we have took part in organizing the student conference "Second
Conference for Young Scientists Optoelectronic Information-Energy
Technologies" (22-25 April 2002 Vinnitsa, Ukraine).
- our officers have participated in the meeting with the former
SPIE President - Richard Hoover in Kyiv on 17th of September, 2001.
- we have conducted mini-lectures in secondary schools to attract
more young people to the field of optics.
- we have set up close links with other SPIE Students Chapters in
Ukraine (Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University; National technical
university of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnical Institute"; National Taurida
V. Vernadsky University; Vinnitsa State Technical University).

3. Financial Report:
A. Beginning Balance: $0.
B. SPIE support for our Students Chapter: $800
C. Funds expended:
- Modems (Zyxel U336E) 2 units $400
- UPS (APC Back UPS 650MI) $300
D. Ending Balance : $100.

4. CHNU SPIE Students Chapter's Program for the year 2002-2003:
A. Actions for our University:
- continue mini-lectures in secondary schools and on other
departments of CHNU.
- creation of web-site of our SPIE Students Chapter.
- creation of links with foreign Students Chapters - at the
School of Optics/CREOL (Orlando, FL) and Rochester Institute of Technology
(Rochester, NY).
- actualization of university's literature base.
B. The conference:
- we are planning to organize a Student Section within the
international conference CorOpt'03, which will be held in Chernivtsi in
September, 2003, sponsored by SPIE.
- we are planning to invite students from other Chapters
(including foreign) to this conference.
