Ukrainian Society for Optical Engineering founded in 2008 on the basis of Ukrainian Chapter of SPIE. Ukrainian Society for Optical Engineering unites member of SPIE, scientists and engineers working in the field of optical engineering, photonics, biomedical optics, holography, optical storage, microlithography, optoelectronics, nanophotonics and optical biosensors.

Activity of Ukrainian Society for Optical Engineering is directed towards increased efficiency of the information exchange between scientists and specialists of Ukraine and world community in the field of development and application of optic, optoelectronic, electrooptic and laser techniques and technology and specialist exchange.

Ukrainian Chapter of SPIE (SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering) was officially recognized organization from 1993 untill 2008 (certified by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on the 25 th April, 1994 ) and founded on the basis of SPIE Ukrainian National Committee. The establishment of the SPIE Ukrainian National Committee was authorized by the Board of Directors of SPIE on the 7 th of April, 1992, in accordance with the SPIE bylaws.

SPIE/Ukraine Chapter promoted creation of Student Chapters of SPIE in such universities as Chernivtsy State University, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev, Vinitsa State Technical University, Kiev National Technical University, V.I. Vernadsky Taurida National University, Simferopol, Crimea, Ukraine.

Ukrainian Society for Optical Engineering organize conference and exhibition in cooperation with Ukrainian Local Section of OSA (OSA - Optical Society of America)
